Hello, my friends,
I apologize for missing last week’s post!
Here’s an update for you all.
My best friend came to visit me here in North Carolina, flying all the way from Arizona! Though I had to work for a few days that she was here, we still had a great time.
In that same time, we had a girls trip planned up in the mountains with a few of my closest friends. We took a long weekend in Meadows of Dan, at a house my old family friends graciously rented out to us. The relaxation, fun, and peace we had on that trip was one of the greatest times of my life.
We had gone up to celebrate my 21st birthday, but while we were there we decided to make it a yearly event!
The sights up there were incredibly beautiful, and the night sky lacked the light pollution of the big cities, so we could see millions of stars above while we sat at the fire.
The house in which we stayed was truly adorable, and had a pond right out front in which we took a daily swim. At one point we decided to go night swimming under the stars. The sky was stunning, and there was a light mist over the dark water, and the sound of frogs and crickets could be heard all around.
Walking around the forest and the edges of the pond were dozens of wild blackberry bushes. I remember coming up here as a small child and picking hundreds of berries with my family so that my mom could make blackberry jam up at my Nanna’s mountain house (the family vacation house) right next door. The berries are always so flavorful.
But unfortunately all these wonderful times must come to an end. My best friend has since left for the airport, and I go back to work tomorrow.
And now, my friends, I await eagerly for next year’s trip.
